the luckiest of days

Something about that oldest one.  That oldest child that defies logic.  The one that can’t be wearing boots almost as big as yours, the one that couldn’t possibly spend evenings pouring over thick chapter books or sewing little baby dolls, the one that just seems to grow up far too fast.  Maybe the last will carry this feeling as well, I can’t be sure… yet.  But either way, this bony little boy, all-elbows, knees, and hair- he never ceases to amaze me.

He chose a camping trip with his brothers on our neighbors land over a party this go around the sun.  He requested “cow stuff”, so a calf halter and barn boots were in order.  I added in some origami paper and Polaroid film to round things out.

Oh this boy, he melts me.  Happy Seventh Birthday Miles!

  1. How absolutely beautiful. My father passed almost 11 years ago. So hard to believe it’s been that long already. He sends me dimes and monarch butterflies. Our last conversation was about them actually. He poked fun at me for my belief in the afterlife and he has sent us signs on a regular basis since the day after his death. Funny how that happens. xo
